What makes Science & Arts Academy different? In addition to creating a stimulating learning environment, SAA is renowned for its differentiated curriculum, small classroom setting and expertise and knowledge in supporting gifted children. Differentiation, enrichment, cross integration of curriculum, acceleration, problem solving and creative thinking, are all concepts common to the everyday intellectual and artistic experience for the SAA student.
The quality of students' work is determined by appropriate levels of achievement and demonstrated proficiency. In the 1st through 4th grade, it is evaluated according to defined benchmarks. Report cards are a combination of narrative and rubric. In the 5th through 8th grade, work is evaluated according to a graded scale based on curriculum benchmarks.
