This past weekend, the Science Olympiad team had a great showing at the Harper College Regional. Throughout the season all team members diligently worked and put forth amazing effort to show all they learned at the regional competition. The Varsity and JV teams earned top medals in several events. In their final competition of the season, both JV teams earned an overall placement in the top 3 of the junior varsity division. Our Varsity team earned 1st place overall, gaining a bid to the state competition at University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign in April! Congrats to all! 3-2-1...Kaboom!!
Seventh and Eighth grade students showcased their efforts on their History Fair projects this past Tuesday. This year’s theme, as determined by National History Day organization, was Conflict and Compromise in History. Finished products included papers, trifolds, websites, documentaries and even a dramatic performance. Younger students as well as parents stopped by learn about the topics and support our student historians! Thank you to the many parents and community members who stopped by! Our seventh and eighth grade students did a great job sharing what they have learned, and it was a wonderful event.
A total of 24 SAA middle school students (mostly 7th and 8th graders) attended the annual Math Contest at IMSA. There were a total of 23 schools who participated in this full day event. SAA was able to earn three recognitions. One student tied for 2nd place for 7th Grade Individuals. Another student was the only 7th grader from all 23 schools to answer problem 20 correctly on the 7th Grade Individual Contest. Lastly, a student earned an IMSA t-shirt for answering a problem in the Speed Round both correctly and first among the contestants from each school. Congratulations to all of the students who participated and represented SAA well!
