Nelly Adelard

Mme. Adelard has 10 years of teaching experience, serving 5 of those years at SAA as French Teacher.  As a native of France, Mme. Adelard has an MA in Foreign Languages Education (French) from the University of Paris VIII, France and an MA in Foreign Language and Literature (English) from the University of Nancy II, France.  She holds Illinois Certification in French and British Certification in French and has taught English in France and French in England.  She has also worked at Lycee Francais in Chicago.  Mme. Adelard is the National First Place Winner of Le Grand Concours 2006 – recognized by the American Association of Teachers of French (AATF).  She is also an active member of AATF.  Mme. Adelard is multilingual in French, Creole, Malagasy, some Spanish, and is interested in Hindi.  She has lived in France, England, Mauritius, Reunion, and Madagascar.  She enjoys traveling and interior design.  Mme. Adelard’s favorite quote is: “To have another language is to possess a second soul”.

Kathryn Salzano

Sra. Salzano has been part of SAA for the past 2 years.  She is part of our World Languages department teaching Spanish to all ages.  Sra. Salzano has a BA in Spanish and Psychology (minor Computer Science) from Elmhurst College and an MA in Spanish Linguistics from University of Illinois Chicago.  She has also attended the Universidad de Granada in Spain and has one year of doctorate studies in Applied Linguistics/Spanish, Univ. So. California.  Sra. Salzano possesses llinois Certification in Children's Bilingual Oral Language Acquisition and Literacy Development and is the Owner/Director of “Language Express”.  She is authorized by the ISBE as a CPDU-CEU (Continuing Education Units) provider in Language Instruction Methodology and has been a Presenter at ICTFL (Illinois Council for Teachers of Foreign Language) conferences and ACTFL (AmericanCTFL) conference.  Multi-lingual – including Italian and German – Sra. Salzano also enjoys travel, cultural studies, reading, music, guitar, juggling, volleyball, soccer, and learning new things.
