Julia Benson

Ms. Benson has 10 years of teaching experience and is currently in her 6th year at SAA teaching science to the Laureate students.  In her roles as Laureate Coordinator, Science Department Chair, and Science Olympiad Coach, she continues to make significant contributions to the school and students.  Ms. Benson has a BS in Biology from Duke University, MS in Elementary Education from Northwestern University, and Illinois Teaching Certification.  She is a current member of National Science Teachers Association (NSTA).

Michelle Gueguen

SAA welcomed Mrs. Gueguen to our school this year as our French Teacher.  Mrs. Gueguen has 4 years of prior teaching experience and possesses a BA in Commercial French and MA in French Language, both from University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign.  Her previous teaching experience includes the Universite de Bourgogne in Dijon, France and Mrs. Gueguen has a DF1 French Business Diploma from the French Chamber of Commerce in Paris.  She was elected “Best Teaching Assistant, French Dept.” and made the list of “Best Instructors” while at U of I.  Mrs. Gueguen loves to travel, read, cook, quilt and paint pottery – anything artistic really!  Her favorite quote is: “Si tu veux, tu peux (If there’s a will, there’s a way)”!

Shirley Krzyzyk

Ms. Krzyzyk has been part of the SAA family for 5 years and contributes 40 years of experience in teaching.  She is a homeroom teacher for Laureate students, Math Coordinator and Continental Math League Sponsor.  Ms. Krzyzyk possesses a BA in History/Elementary Education from Loyola University and an MA in Special Education from University of Illinois.  Her certifications include: Iowa Permanent Elementary Certification, Illinois Standard LD and Special Ed Behavioral SP (grades K-9 and 6-12).  She is a Carnation/Nielson Award for Outstanding Graduate Work winner, a Golden Apple nominee, and recipient of the Heart of School Award Chicago.  Ms. Krzyzyk has taught in the gifted summer school program at Dominican University for 14 years.  In her spare time she loves to travel and her favorite quote is: “Children will remember not so much what you taught but how you made them feel”.

David Linder

Mr. Linder is in his second year with SAA and has 21 years of teaching experience.  His many roles include teaching Laureate Language Arts, Laureate Math, and Baccalaureate Latin, as well as a homeroom teacher for Laureate students.  Mr. Linder has a BA in Economics from Northwestern University, an M.A.T. Elementary Certification from Webster University, and K-12 Gifted Education Certification from Lindenwood University.  In addition to his responsibilities at SAA, he has taught a variety of subject areas, including: French, Science, and Space Sciences.  Mr. Linder has had his writings published on the kids’ pages of major newspapers and is currently writing children books for publication.  His favorite quote is: “A quitter never wins, and a winner never quits!”

Marisa Tinaglia

Ms. Tinaglia has been a teacher for 9 years with 4 of those years at SAA.  She is a Laureate Homeroom Teacher and Student Ambassador Program Coordinator.  Ms. Tinaglia has a BA from Trinity International University and an AA from The Culinary Institute of America.  Her Teaching Certification includes endorsements in Language Arts and Social Studies from TIU.  Ms. Tinaglia put her culinary training to good use prior to becoming a teacher, working as a chef for both a catering company and as pastry chef at the Ritz Carlton Hotel.  She is a member of the academic honors Kappa Delta Pi, Junior Great Books Leader and has certification in Classroom Organizational Management.  Ms. Tinaglia enjoys walking, reading, entertaining, laughing and is also a Mary Kay Consultant.  Her favorite verse is: “I can do all things through Him who strengthens me” Philippians 4:13.

Ginny Gregersen

Ms. Gregersen has 25 years of teaching experience with 14 years at SAA as a Laureate Homeroom Teacher.  She possesses a BFA from Southern Methodist University and an MA from the University of Colorado.  Ms. Gregersen’s certifications include Illinois Teaching Cert and The Gifted Institute.  She has received the Excellence in Teaching Award from the Illinois Council for the Gifted.  She is also a volunteer for Read to Learn.  Her favorite verse is: “Love the Lord your God with all your heart, soul and mind.  Love your neighbor as yourself.”
