Young Learner Program
Science & Arts Academy is committed to providing an appropriate, gifted education for even our youngest students. The Young Learners Program provides students the opportunity to learn at a developmentally appropriate level alongside gifted peers. Students are guided through these two years by faculty who are uniquely trained to manage the vast diversity of interests, talents and development present amongst four- to six-year-olds. A love of learning is going to blossom at Science & Arts Academy!
Four-year-olds in Junior Kindergarten integrate imaginative play with academic activities. The Junior Kindergarten learning environment encompasses language development, math readiness, science exploration, world studies, the child’s community, music, art and drama activities, gross and fine motor development, nutrition, play and quiet time. Imaginations are at work during journal writing and free thinking. Advanced reading and math opportunities are available to accommodate for varying skill development.

Kindergarten is an important year developmentally as attention spans increase, motor skill tasks become easier, and children become more confident students. Students will have met the IQ testing requirements prior to beginning the Kindergarten year. As the bridge to first grade is built throughout the year, students will be grouped according to educational and developmental needs in math and reading. Art, music, drama, physical education, and time working with technology makes Kindergarten not only fun but really worthwhile for these precocious minds!
