Glenbrook South honors math students joined thousands of the top math students from around the country in participating in the American Mathematics Competition (AMC). The AMC, given each year, is designed to increase interest in math and develop problem solving. The test, in conjunction with the AIME, is used to select the USA Mathematical Olympiad qualifiers each year. This team consists of six of the best and brightest high school math students in the country.
We are pleased to report that 2013 SAA Graduate Cindy Y. was one of three GBS students who qualified to take the American Invitational Mathematics Examination (AIME), due to her excellent performance on the AMC. Cindy placed third out of all GBS juniors and seniors taking the AMC 12.
Congratulations also to 2014 SAA Graduate Lucas P. for placing second of all GBS freshman and sophomores taking the AMC 10. Way to go SAA!
