Summer 2022 | Enrichment Class Schedule | Session 3
July 18 - July 29, 2022 Enrichment classes are open to rising 1st-8th grade children and eligibility is based upon the grade a child is entering in Fall 2022. During the registration process families select one class per hour to create their child's enrichment class schedule for Session 3: July 18 - July 29.
Classes with an asterisk are scheduled to take place outdoors under tents, although outdoor spaces and rooms with windows will be used for all activities as much as possible this summer. The average class size is 10 campers with one teacher per class. A brief description of each class offered in Session 3 is included below. Below is the full list of classes offered during Summer Adventures of Learning sessions 1, 2 and 3. Please note that not every class is offered every session. Please refer to the tables above for classes offered specifically in Session 3
Amazing Anatomy and Fitness
In this class, campers will learn about the amazing human body systems! Through interactive projects and games, students will gain the knowledge and skills to understand their bodies, as well as learn ways to move and stay healthy!

Archery
It's not summer camp without archery! Imagine aiming the arrow at the target like Princess Merida or Robin Hood. Summer camp is all about developing new skills and learning archery provides opportunities to practice discipline, concentration and perseverance. It is a great feeling when campers (in some cases finally) can hit the bullseye because it was a testament to their hard work and dedication! Campers will learn the basic terminology, technique, and safety for archery. Each day includes practice rounds and challenge games like Target Tic Tac Toe and War of the Worlds. Due to the importance of maintaining a safe environment, campers must be prepared to follow all safety instructions. This class takes place outside (tent available for shade) but moves inside during inclement weather.

Bucket Band
Ever listen to a song and find yourself tapping your pencil or playing some air drums? Do you like the sound of the bass beat in your favorite tune? You might be the perfect Bucket Band Drummer! Come join the fun making music with buckets, wooden sticks, chairs, and other found sounds this summer. We will work on drumming basics, creating music rhythms as a team, and have a great time making some fabulous noise.

Build a Play
Calling all actors! Learn how to use your voice, body, and imagination to bring characters to life onstage. In Build a Play, campers will work together to create a brand new play inspired by a familiar story or theme that they will share in a final performance. Instructor: Northlight Theatre
Chemistry in Action
Campers will have a blast conducting hands-on experiments using common household items like baking soda, vinegar, food coloring, shaving cream, and cornstarch. We will create an exploding volcano, Oobleck, DIY lava lamps, different variations of slime, and more. Each day begins with a science read aloud, followed by a hands-on experiment and a journal reflection. Campers have the opportunity to mix, create, observe and analyze chemical reactions in a manner that they may not have the opportunity to do in a traditional, larger classroom setting.

Chess
Enter the world of chess this summer! Open to campers of all playing levels and experience, this classic game of strategy is both fun and teaches important educational and life skills including concentration, logic, critical thinking, and sportsmanship. Beginner players will be introduced to the rules, moves, etiquette, and basic strategies of the game, while players with more experience will have opportunities to enhance their skills by mastering opening game theory, middle game tactics and end game combinations. Each day campers will receive instruction followed by friendly matches amongst campers of similar experience levels. Instructor: Kate Bauer
Chinese Experience
Welcome to our fun Chinese summer program! Your camper will be introduced to a variety of Chinese customs, history, cultural traditions (Holiday/Festive) and the Chinese language. The students will be taught Chinese characters through reading stories, playing games, calligraphy (Chinese brush) and creating art projects. Campers will also have the opportunity to sing Chinese songs and read traditional Chinese poems. This approach is to help teach your camper the differences between Chinese and Western culture and customs. Most of the learning materials will be designed by the course instructor to best suit your student based on their age and learning level.

Circuit Playground Introduction to Electronics
This is a project based introduction to the world of physical computing. Each camper will be given a circuit playground microcontroller and the basic skills necessary to code it to sense its surroundings. They will design how they want to use the temperature, motion, sound, or touch information to create games, wearable electronics, or whatever they can come up with. Campers will get to take their projects home at the end of camp in order to continue expanding on their knowledge of electronics and coding. We will use block coding for all projects, and no experience is necessary.

Clay Creations
This is not your ordinary clay class. In this class students can try a variety of types of clay ranging from air dry clay, polymer clay, to glazed and fired in a kiln. Clay is different from any other art medium; it requires an understanding of the three dimensional world! Clay Creations incorporates discussions of shape, form, and perspective, with opportunities for campers to design and create their own pieces. In the beginning of each session, themes and project ideas are created based upon group interests. Once a consensus is reached on the theme (tiles, animals, mugs, bowls), campers begin experimenting with a variety of building techniques while learning to think about their ideas and adapt along the way. This class is all about creativity, self-expression, and inspiring each other! In addition to creating incredible ceramic pieces, many campers find the process itself the most rewarding element of the class.

CPR and First Aid Certification
Do you care about the safety of people around you? Do you seek to get Red Cross certified to open doors to job opportunities such as a camp counselor or babysitter? Learn Red Cross Procedures to prevent and care for others in situations such as: muscle and joint strains, broken bones, life threatening bleeding, unconsciousness, anaphylaxis, cardiac arrest, and more. Taught by a veteran Health Education Teacher who has certified hundreds of children, this class will develop self-confidence in one’s ability to help others. Campers who meet all expectations (attend all classes and pass the written and skills test) will receive a certification at the end. Instructor: Chris Trella
Dance & Art Fusion ( Session 1 : Jazz/Hip Hop | Session 2: Ballet/Modern )
SAIL is offering a dance/art fusion class for campers to take as one of their enrichment classes. This is not your typical dance class, as students will be fusing and intertwining dance with art to create an exciting summer experience. Campers will be learning styles ranging from jazz and hip hop (Session 1) to ballet and modern (Session 2). The dance theme will inspire the unique crafts the campers will create and take home to show off to their family. One of the activities will be having them dance with paint! Campers will also learn a dance combination that they will be able to perform to show their families at the end of the session.

Disc/Frisbee Golf
Discover North America’s fastest growing sport, with over 50 free courses in Cook and Wheaton County alone! Disc golf uses specialized frisbees and catching baskets instead of golf balls and holes. This sport encourages a growth mindset, balancing risk/reward, exercise, and setting personal goals. Campers will learn traditional backhand form and putting stroke while having time to practice and play. Get outside and enjoy time in the sun with friends and Disc Golf. It’s Birdie time!

DIY Musical Instruments
Do you like to build things? Do you like to play music? Now wouldn't both at once be fun?! In this class we will explore a variety of percussion and melodic instruments used in music from all over the world. Each camper will build instruments that they may keep and we will all work together to create a DIY band and enjoy our group sound!

Dungeons & Dragons
Discover the world of Dungeons & Dragons, a roleplaying game about storytelling in worlds of sword and sorcery. This game is driven by collaborative creativity and imagination. A Dungeon Master provides guidance and structure to the stories, and using dice provides a way of determining the consequences of the adventurers’ action. Players roll dice to resolve whether their attacks hit or miss or whether their adventurers can scale a cliff, roll away from the strike of a magical lightning bolt, or pull off some other dangerous task. In the Dungeons & Dragons game, each player creates an adventurer, or character, and teams up with other adventurers, your friends. Working together, the group might explore a dark dungeon, a ruined city, a haunted castle, a lost temple deep in a jungle, or a lava-filled cavern beneath a mysterious mountain. The adventurers can solve puzzles, talk with other characters, battle fantastic monsters, and discover fabulous magic items and other treasure. Whether your character is a Wizard or Warlock, come join the fun!

Easy to Do Crochet and Hand-Stitching
Old crafts are back! Start teaching your campers early. Learn crocheting using plastic hooks and needles to create fun crafts! Simple crocheting creates bracelets, necklaces, and headbands. Hand-stitching creates their own felt animals and a doughnut pillow. They will be amazed at what their fingers can produce in a short amount of time!

Edible Education
Ever wondered what makes your food taste the way it does? In this class we will explore all the different ways that little ingredients can make big changes to the way food looks or tastes. We will also learn about fundamental concepts that make recipes work. Campers will come home with new knowledge about the everyday ingredients in your pantry, and a booklet of recipes that they made. Everything made in class will be nut free, and all recipes can be adjusted to accommodate any allergy. Each session will explore new food groups and themes.

Explorations in Weaving: Tapestry and Beyond
In this class, weaving is distilled down into its most basic elements. Campers will learn and find satisfaction in the tactile, repetitive nature of "over, under, over, under," while developing their dexterity and focus. Campers will create small wall hangings using paper plates and portable looms.

Film Music
Music is an integral part of movies. You may not know it, but the music in a movie can make us cry, laugh, smile, and more! It influences how we perceive a movie scene. In this class, it's YOUR turn to compose music for movies. You will be watching different scenes and analyzing how the music fits into it, writing stories to match a variety of music, and creating your own music for different movie scenes using technology. Campers will get to step into the role of movie composer/director/producer and make decisions based on what music they think should be in the movie!

Flow Studio
In this visionary class, we will be exploring different strategies that build self-confidence and motivation. Campers will get "into their flow" by playing games, creating vision boards, practicing positive self-talk and utilizing visualization as a guide to lifelong happiness and success. Campers will also learn about goal-setting, mindfulness, and self care.

Gliders and Flight Science
Throughout history in all cultures there has always been a fascination with flight. Campers will learn the basic principles of flight and build a variety of gliders using common materials, such as paper, straws, and foam sheets. Previous groups have also been successful building laminated paper airplanes. This summer, groups will be introduced to rubber band powered gliders, and have opportunities to test their glider’s flight time, distance, and speed with their peers. They will also learn how to measure, improve and optimize the performance of their gliders.

Guitar & Art Jam Session
Expand your creative side with music AND art! Campers will combine guitar strumming, chord practice, finger picking and playing simple sing-along songs with art inspired by the music. Each session will have a slightly different theme and modified art project that pairs well with the tunes. Come jam with our groovy guitar group and add a splash of funky art. Campers are welcome to bring their personal guitar.

Hip Hop Dance
Calling all students who want to learn and grow! Turn up the volume and master your moves in Design Dance’s Hip Hop Dance Program. In this program, our professional dance educators will welcome campers as they build on Hip Hop + Pop dance styles in a relaxed, encouraging environment. In each lesson, dancers will review and practice the technique, movement phrases, and fundamentals associated with popular Hip Hop forms today. Through team movement activities, self-expression prompts, choice-based freestyle circles, technical practice and choreography exercises, students will strengthen their rhythm, coordination, improvisation and creative confidence. Along the way, Design Dance educators will honor each student’s voice by meeting them at their level and supporting their social-emotional development at their own pace. By the end of the session, dancers will collaborate together to create a student-led performance that represents their unique talents and personalities. To celebrate, family and friends will cheer on students as they present their work in a culminating presentation at the end of the program, which may need to be virtual. Improv Fun
With direction and coaching from an experienced comedian, participants will learn the basics of improvisation and performance through fun mind games and interactive play. Along the way, participants will gain valuable communication and team working skills as they learn to listen and think creatively. At the end of the session, the group will produce and star in their very own improv comedy show which is sure to receive lots of laughs! Let’s build confidence and new friendships while we laugh together.

Intro to Roblox Scripting
This course is an introduction to the Lua language used in Roblox. Campers will learn the basics of how to start designing interactive games that can be played by their friends. Campers will learn to create scripts within their games that are triggered by events in order to make them dynamic and interactive. Lua is a text based language that can help aspiring developers transition from block coding to a syntax closer to python, java, or C++. No experience coding necessary, although familiarity with block coding will help campers take on more challenging projects.

LEGO Engineering
LEGOs are much more than toys! This popular introductory class covers basic engineering principles using LEGOs. Campers work individually or in partners to plan, build, and test a variety of structures. Each session is based around a theme, and campers model their designs and construction from photos of real examples. Examples of previous LEGO challenges include skyscrapers, castles, bridges, off world colonies, vehicles, cities, and more.

LEGO Robotics
We have upgraded to the brand new LEGO Mindstorms Robot Inventor kit! Campers program and test their robots in order to complete a variety of tasks. Each camper tracks their progress in a personal workbook. These challenges involve programming the motion of the robot and using one or more sensors to guide their robot, and campers use conditional decision making, a fundamental programming concept (e.g. programming a robot to move through a maze of foam blocks). As the session progresses, campers take on more and more complex challenges.

LIVE from Chicago! (Sketch Comedy Writing)
Have you ever dreamed of your child being in love with writing? Here is your chance. Nothing makes a child love writing more than writing creative stories with hilarious jokes. Join us this summer so your child can learn from a professional comedian how to become a sketch comedy writer. Think of it as a Saturday Night Live for kids! At the end of the session, the kids will write, produce and star in their very own sketch comedy performance which you can see for yourselves! Mad Science STEM Explorers
Mad Science STEM Explorers - STEM related careers are projected to grow faster than all other occupations in the next decade! Jr. Scientists will spend two weeks exploring different STEM careers in a fun and engaging setting filled with hands-on experiments, problem solving, creative thinking, and cool take-home items! Topics will include chemistry, aerospace, geology, engineering, entomology, forensics, and more! Note: The curriculum will repeat for Sessions 2 and 3.

Blending elements of karate, Krav Maga, and Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, MBD Martial Arts Academy creates a well-rounded martial arts experience. In each lesson, our cast of dancers will dive into the technique, history and significance of theatrical performances, while surveying a variety of associated music genres and dance styles, including Jazz, Tap, Hip Hop, Ballet, Modern and Creative Movement. It’s time to get creative and color your dreams! Learn to paint through the process of expression, discovery, and using your imagination....while getting a little messy too! In this class, campers will develop a further understanding of painting and drawing techniques needed to design their own masterpieces. Schemeers Inc - (Tabletop/Board Games)
Find the imposter amongst a suspicious group, work together to build an ancient Mesoamerican temple, then race against the clock to see if you can escape a haunted house! Modern Tabletop games encourage cooperation and reward thoughtful planning. Campers will play against the game itself or each other to strategize, allocate resources, and balance outcomes while exploring a curated selection of games. ScratchJr.
This is an introduction to the amazing world of coding with ScratchJr (https:// www.scratchjr.org/)! Campers will learn to organize programming blocks to make their characters move, jump, dance and sing. Using these skills, campers can create their own interactive stories and games to share with friends and family at home. During the first week, campers take on simple coding challenges each day, such as making a car move across the town, making animals race, and making characters talk to each other. After learning to code simple programs, campers brainstorm, collaborate and create programming for original works during the second week. By the end of the session, campers have the building blocks to learn Scratch programming in the future.

Soccer: "SAIL Style" (1st - 4th grades)
Super Soccer stars is the classic youth soccer program that teaches the fundamentals of the sport in a fun, non-competitive, educational environment. Our unique curriculum uses positive reinforcement and a low child-to-coach ratio to make sure each child feels supported and confident in his or her own abilities, allowing kids to improve at their own rate. Participants may wear cleats or athletic sneakers when outside, but must always have a pair of athletic sneakers available to use in case of inclement weather, as no cleats are allowed in the gym. Solve with Math
Young mathematicians will explore math challenges and solve math puzzles. Campers will learn about ancient numbering systems from around the world, create their original numbering systems, work with tangram puzzles, build with Magna Tiles, and stretch their mathematical skills with multi-step story problems. Each class begins with a math storybook, followed by small group work on multi-step math challenges. Favorite authors of math storybooks include Greg Tang and Brian Cleary. Campers benefit from collaborating with their peers to practice and apply critical thinking and analytical thinking skills.

Speak Up!
Your Voice. Your Issues. Your Community. How can theatre help change the world? In Speak Up! campers will learn how art can be a tool for positive change in their community and create an original performance that explores the issues that matter to them. Instructor: Northlight Theatre
Soccer Stars United (5th-8th grades)
Soccer Stars United uses licensed and experienced coaches who work closely with players through a curriculum that gradually introduces new technical skills, tactical elements, and team concepts as players reach program milestones. Soccer players will run drills utilizing newly introduced skills and strategy, play scrimmage games for practice, and experience camaraderie while being part of a team. Instructor: Super Soccer Stars
Storytime Dance

Starting to learn Chain, Single, Double and Treble Crocheting methods. Make headbands, earrings, phone pouches, or little plush Amigurumi toys for your backpacks. Learn to crochet and make lots of gifts for friends and family! It is a skill that you can benefit from your entire life. Warning: Crocheting might take the place of swiping your cell phone!

The Bookworm and Authors Club (1st-2nd grades | 3rd-4th grades)
Join us for an adventure as we dive into a popular book for our Bookworm Club! From interactive debates, fishbowl discussions, and quiet reading time in a cozy environment, campers will get to foster their love for reading. We will also have the opportunity to write and illustrate our own book inspired by our book club pick to take home at the end of the session! Book choice to be determined. In this class, campers will have a chance to write in a variety of genres everyday. Campers work in a creative writing prompts journal and play engaging vocabulary games including Mad Libs, Hangman, Charades, and More. We will also be reading award-winning children's books, writing a dialogue journal, writing original fairy tales, poetry, and working with wordless picture books. By the end of the session participants will bring home a collection of their original works!

The students will be taught Chinese characters through reading stories, playing games, calligraphy (Chinese brush) and creating art projects. Campers will also have the opportunity to sing Chinese songs and read traditional Chinese poems. This approach is to help teach your camper the differences between Chinese and Western culture and customs. Most of the learning materials will be designed by the course instructor to best suit your student based on their age and learning level.

Circuit Playground Introduction to Electronics
This is a project based introduction to the world of physical computing. Each camper will be given a circuit playground microcontroller and the basic skills necessary to code it to sense its surroundings. They will design how they want to use the temperature, motion, sound, or touch information to create games, wearable electronics, or whatever they can come up with. Campers will get to take their projects home at the end of camp in order to continue expanding on their knowledge of electronics and coding. We will use block coding for all projects, and no experience is necessary.

Clay Creations
This is not your ordinary clay class. In this class students can try a variety of types of clay ranging from air dry clay, polymer clay, to glazed and fired in a kiln. Clay is different from any other art medium; it requires an understanding of the three dimensional world! Clay Creations incorporates discussions of shape, form, and perspective, with opportunities for campers to design and create their own pieces. In the beginning of each session, themes and project ideas are created based upon group interests. Once a consensus is reached on the theme (tiles, animals, mugs, bowls), campers begin experimenting with a variety of building techniques while learning to think about their ideas and adapt along the way. This class is all about creativity, self-expression, and inspiring each other! In addition to creating incredible ceramic pieces, many campers find the process itself the most rewarding element of the class.

CPR and First Aid Certification
Do you care about the safety of people around you? Do you seek to get Red Cross certified to open doors to job opportunities such as a camp counselor or babysitter? Learn Red Cross Procedures to prevent and care for others in situations such as: muscle and joint strains, broken bones, life threatening bleeding, unconsciousness, anaphylaxis, cardiac arrest, and more. Taught by a veteran Health Education Teacher who has certified hundreds of children, this class will develop self-confidence in one’s ability to help others. Dance & Art Fusion ( Session 1 : Jazz/Hip Hop | Session 2: Ballet/Modern )
SAIL is offering a dance/art fusion class for campers to take as one of their enrichment classes. This is not your typical dance class, as students will be fusing and intertwining dance with art to create an exciting summer experience. Campers will be learning styles ranging from jazz and hip hop (Session 1) to ballet and modern (Session 2). The dance theme will inspire the unique crafts the campers will create and take home to show off to their family. One of the activities will be having them dance with paint! Campers will also learn a dance combination that they will be able to perform to show their families at the end of the session.

Discover North America’s fastest growing sport, with over 50 free courses in Cook and Wheaton County alone! Disc golf uses specialized frisbees and catching baskets instead of golf balls and holes. This sport encourages a growth mindset, balancing risk/reward, exercise, and setting personal goals. Dungeons & Dragons
Discover the world of Dungeons & Dragons, a roleplaying game about storytelling in worlds of sword and sorcery. This game is driven by collaborative creativity and imagination. A Dungeon Master provides guidance and structure to the stories, and using dice provides a way of determining the consequences of the adventurers’ action. Players roll dice to resolve whether their attacks hit or miss or whether their adventurers can scale a cliff, roll away from the strike of a magical lightning bolt, or pull off some other dangerous task. In the Dungeons & Dragons game, each player creates an adventurer, or character, and teams up with other adventurers, your friends. Working together, the group might explore a dark dungeon, a ruined city, a haunted castle, a lost temple deep in a jungle, or a lava-filled cavern beneath a mysterious mountain. The adventurers can solve puzzles, talk with other characters, battle fantastic monsters, and discover fabulous magic items and other treasure. Whether your character is a Wizard or Warlock, come join the fun!

Old crafts are back! Start teaching your campers early. Learn crocheting using plastic hooks and needles to create fun crafts! Simple crocheting creates bracelets, necklaces, and headbands. Hand-stitching creates their own felt animals and a doughnut pillow. They will be amazed at what their fingers can produce in a short amount of time!

Ever wondered what makes your food taste the way it does? In this class we will explore all the different ways that little ingredients can make big changes to the way food looks or tastes. We will also learn about fundamental concepts that make recipes work. Campers will come home with new knowledge about the everyday ingredients in your pantry, and a booklet of recipes that they made. Everything made in class will be nut free, and all recipes can be adjusted to accommodate any allergy. Each session will explore new food groups and themes.

Explorations in Weaving: Tapestry and Beyond
In this class, weaving is distilled down into its most basic elements. Campers will learn and find satisfaction in the tactile, repetitive nature of "over, under, over, under," while developing their dexterity and focus. Campers will create small wall hangings using paper plates and portable looms.

Film Music
Music is an integral part of movies. You may not know it, but the music in a movie can make us cry, laugh, smile, and more! It influences how we perceive a movie scene. In this class, it's YOUR turn to compose music for movies. You will be watching different scenes and analyzing how the music fits into it, writing stories to match a variety of music, and creating your own music for different movie scenes using technology. Campers will get to step into the role of movie composer/director/producer and make decisions based on what music they think should be in the movie!

In this visionary class, we will be exploring different strategies that build self-confidence and motivation. Campers will get "into their flow" by playing games, creating vision boards, practicing positive self-talk and utilizing visualization as a guide to lifelong happiness and success. Gliders and Flight Science
Throughout history in all cultures there has always been a fascination with flight. Campers will learn the basic principles of flight and build a variety of gliders using common materials, such as paper, straws, and foam sheets. Previous groups have also been successful building laminated paper airplanes. This summer, groups will be introduced to rubber band powered gliders, and have opportunities to test their glider’s flight time, distance, and speed with their peers. They will also learn how to measure, improve and optimize the performance of their gliders.

Guitar & Art Jam Session
Expand your creative side with music AND art! Campers will combine guitar strumming, chord practice, finger picking and playing simple sing-along songs with art inspired by the music. Each session will have a slightly different theme and modified art project that pairs well with the tunes. Come jam with our groovy guitar group and add a splash of funky art. Campers are welcome to bring their personal guitar.

Calling all students who want to learn and grow! Turn up the volume and master your moves in Design Dance’s Hip Hop Dance Program. In this program, our professional dance educators will welcome campers as they build on Hip Hop + Pop dance styles in a relaxed, encouraging environment. In each lesson, dancers will review and practice the technique, movement phrases, and fundamentals associated with popular Hip Hop forms today. Through team movement activities, self-expression prompts, choice-based freestyle circles, technical practice and choreography exercises, students will strengthen their rhythm, coordination, improvisation and creative confidence. Along the way, Design Dance educators will honor each student’s voice by meeting them at their level and supporting their social-emotional development at their own pace. With direction and coaching from an experienced comedian, participants will learn the basics of improvisation and performance through fun mind games and interactive play. Along the way, participants will gain valuable communication and team working skills as they learn to listen and think creatively. Intro to Roblox Scripting
This course is an introduction to the Lua language used in Roblox. Campers will learn the basics of how to start designing interactive games that can be played by their friends. Campers will learn to create scripts within their games that are triggered by events in order to make them dynamic and interactive. Lua is a text based language that can help aspiring developers transition from block coding to a syntax closer to python, java, or C++. No experience coding necessary, although familiarity with block coding will help campers take on more challenging projects.

LEGO Engineering
LEGOs are much more than toys! This popular introductory class covers basic engineering principles using LEGOs. Campers work individually or in partners to plan, build, and test a variety of structures. Each session is based around a theme, and campers model their designs and construction from photos of real examples. Examples of previous LEGO challenges include skyscrapers, castles, bridges, off world colonies, vehicles, cities, and more.

LEGO Robotics
We have upgraded to the brand new LEGO Mindstorms Robot Inventor kit! Campers program and test their robots in order to complete a variety of tasks. Each camper tracks their progress in a personal workbook. These challenges involve programming the motion of the robot and using one or more sensors to guide their robot, and campers use conditional decision making, a fundamental programming concept (e.g. programming a robot to move through a maze of foam blocks). As the session progresses, campers take on more and more complex challenges.

This is an introduction to the amazing world of coding with ScratchJr (https:// www.scratchjr.org/)! Campers will learn to organize programming blocks to make their characters move, jump, dance and sing. Using these skills, campers can create their own interactive stories and games to share with friends and family at home. During the first week, campers take on simple coding challenges each day, such as making a car move across the town, making animals race, and making characters talk to each other. After learning to code simple programs, campers brainstorm, collaborate and create programming for original works during the second week. By the end of the session, campers have the building blocks to learn Scratch programming in the future.

Soccer: "SAIL Style" (1st - 4th grades)
Super Soccer stars is the classic youth soccer program that teaches the fundamentals of the sport in a fun, non-competitive, educational environment. Our unique curriculum uses positive reinforcement and a low child-to-coach ratio to make sure each child feels supported and confident in his or her own abilities, allowing kids to improve at their own rate. Participants may wear cleats or athletic sneakers when outside, but must always have a pair of athletic sneakers available to use in case of inclement weather, as no cleats are allowed in the gym. Solve with Math
Young mathematicians will explore math challenges and solve math puzzles. Campers will learn about ancient numbering systems from around the world, create their original numbering systems, work with tangram puzzles, build with Magna Tiles, and stretch their mathematical skills with multi-step story problems. Each class begins with a math storybook, followed by small group work on multi-step math challenges. Favorite authors of math storybooks include Greg Tang and Brian Cleary. Campers benefit from collaborating with their peers to practice and apply critical thinking and analytical thinking skills.

In this class, campers will have a chance to write in a variety of genres everyday. Campers work in a creative writing prompts journal and play engaging vocabulary games including Mad Libs, Hangman, Charades, and More. We will also be reading award-winning children's books, writing a dialogue journal, writing original fairy tales, poetry, and working with wordless picture books. By the end of the session participants will bring home a collection of their original works!
