Young Learners Program for Preschool & Kindergarten

Overview
Summer Adventures in Learning's Young Learners Program is a holistic school readiness experience that combines learning and fun for children preparing for the upcoming school year in their preschool or kindergarten classroom. Each two-week session is built around a thematic, multi-disciplinary curriculum (e.g. math, reading, science, art, etc.) that encourages academic, social, emotional, and physical development. Activities are engaging, interactive, and challenging, and they are designed with the differentiated development and educational needs of the child in mind. Examples of previous session themes include insects, plants, outer space, weather, ocean and community safety.
Eligibility
The half day Preschool classroom is open to all children who are at least 3 years old by the first day of the session.
The half day Kindergarten classroom is open to all children who are at least 5 years old by the first day of the session or who are entering Kindergarten in Fall 2023.
Children do not need to be gifted to enroll as all ability levels are welcome. All campers must be completely toilet trained.

Schedule
Each two-week session offers a half day Young Learners program from 9:00am to 12:00pm.* A front door carline drop off begins at 8:45am.
Participants are separated into a Preschool and Kindergarten classroom, each with a maximum capacity of 10-12 campers and led by two permanent co-teachers. Every morning includes an opening and closing circle time, enrichment activities based on the session theme, self-directed centers play, and brief snack and recess breaks. Campers are dismissed at 12:00pm unless enrolled in the full day option.
*Half day campers who are at least 4 years old by the first day of the session may enroll in Before Camp Care services from 7:30-9:00am.

Overview
Participants in the Young Learners Full Day Program receive all of the benefits of the classroom enrichment in the morning hours plus additional opportunities get outside and play fun camp games during the second half of the day. The Young Learner's teachers facilitate cooperative games, sports oriented games, water games, and other creative activities that get campers moving around, improving physical fitness, and developing gross motor and coordination skills. Most afternoon activities take place on our large soccer field, playground and black top area, or in the gymnasium. Campers will visit Mystic Waters Family Aquatic Center twice per week, weather permitting.
Eligibility
The full day program is open to all children who are at least 4 years old by the first day of the session. The morning Preschool and Kindergarten classrooms may be combined into one group in the afternoon based on enrollment.
Children do not need to be gifted to enroll as all ability levels are welcome. All campers must be completely toilet trained.

Participants are separated into a Preschool and Kindergarten classroom in the morning hours, each with a maximum capacity of 10-12 campers and led by two permanent co-teachers. Every morning includes an opening and closing circle time, enrichment activities based on the session theme, self-directed centers play, and a brief snack and recess breaks. When half-day campers are dismissed at 12:00pm, full day campers stay at camp to eat lunch and have a brief rest period followed by an afternoon of games and activities. Campers eat a light snack at the end of the day and are dismissed at 3:00pm.
Lunch
Full-day campers must bring a lunch from home.
*Full Day campers may enroll in Before (7:30 - 9:00am) and After Camp (3:00 - 6:00pm) Care services.

- Eligible campers may choose to add Before or After Camp care, offered on all camp days except the first morning of each session.
