Aaron Leiva came to Science & Arts Academy in 2013 as a Language Arts teacher after completing his student teaching in our Language Arts department.
Before SAA, Mr. Leiva served as a college writing tutor in the Education Department at Northeastern Illinois University, where he received his BA in English/Secondary Education and earned his MA in English.
Mr. Leiva appreciates the academic rigor at SAA, and the ability to dig deep in his teaching into the topics that students desire to learn more about. Within his classroom, you’ll find students making movie trailers for books, producing a three and a half hour long movie adaptation of Julius Caesar using stick figures, or making poetry chat books.
“The best parts of teaching are getting to know each student and encouraging them to become lifelong learners who are passionate about literature and analysis.” After school, you may find Mr. Leiva riding his bike, doing Jiu-Jitsu, writing, or reading.
