Since August 2015, Mrs. Liebman has served as one of three music teachers at Science & Arts Academy. Currently she teaches sectionals, elementary general music courses, band and orchestra for grades four through eight, and jazz theory.
She believes that every child is a performer, creator and consumer of music, and strives to create a supportive classroom environment where students feel safe taking risks while embracing their creative talents. "I am passionate about sharing my love of music with others. It makes me smile to hear a student accomplish something on an instrument they didn’t think they could do or watch a class master a group dance or song. I’m very lucky to have a job that is so much fun!"
Mrs. Liebman received her bachelors of secondary education from the University of Missouri- Columbia in 2002, and her masters in music from Northwestern University. She has served as the Director of Bands at middle and high schools across Missouri and the greater Chicago area. She holds her Professional Educator License, with endorsements in music K-9; music 6-12; and secondary education.
Mrs. Liebman is active within the National Association for Music Education, the Illinois Grade School Music Association, and the Illinois Association for Gifted Children. Additionally, she is a Level One Certified Google Educator, and works actively with instructional software and technology integration.
When she is not teaching at SAA, Mrs. Liebman can be found hanging out with her toy poodle, Coal, and supporting her own children’s activities like dance and baseball.
