Mrs. McEvoy joined SAA as our Explore and Create (EAC) teacher in 2019. She is a devoted teacher, with a passion for technology integration and bringing 21st century skills into the classroom.
Working in the Explore and Create space, Mrs. McEvoy teaches students a variety of skills as part of the EAC curriculum: woodworking, laser cutting, sewing, knitting, weaving, cardboard creations, engineering challenges, and more! Mrs. McEvoy loves to document her student’s work through photos and videos. As she builds relationships with students, she enjoys developing projects that work for each group of students' individual needs.
As the former Virtual Learning Coach, Mrs. McEvoy ensured a best-practice, researched-based virtual learning program for faculty, students, and parents. This included supporting teachers in the development of synchronous and asynchronous lessons, supporting faculty, parents and students through all facets of distance learning, and evaluating new technologies in support of student learning.
Mrs. McEvoy received her BS in marketing from DePaul University, an MA in teaching from National Louis University, and a masters in educational technology from Concordia University.
When she is not at school, she enjoys taking long walks, reading, or listening to podcasts. During free time, she likes reading blogs and following social media of other maker space teachers. She also enjoys spending time with family and friends playing cards, swimming and travelling.
