Monika has a passion for helping kids find the best fit for their educational journey and dedicates her time at SAA to helping prospective families get to know our school and navigating each step of the admissions process.
Monika grew up in Wisconsin and began her secondary studies at Marquette University, where she realized her passion for helping struggling students achieve their personal goals in the classroom. After earning both a Bachelor of Science and a Master of Science in Communication Disorders, Monika started her career as a Speech-Language Pathologist in a low-income public school district at the middle school level. While working with high-needs students to obtain success, she also trained school staff on how to best support children of varying ability levels in the classroom.
After five years, Monika and her family moved to Los Angeles where she ran her own successful private practice servicing a wide variety of school districts across southern California. Monika specialized in offering support assistance inside and outside of the classroom, participating in IEP and 504 Plan development meetings, evaluations, assessments, and training teachers on how to support their students’ growth. Monika’s professional background has given her an aptitude to see the academic world in a neurologically diverse way.
Eventually Monika and her family returned to the midwest, where she continued to work with students, assisting middle schoolers with the transition to high school and 12th graders with making their move to life after high school.
Through working with the Admissions Office at Marquette University and guiding high school students in their college searches, Monika pursued a return to the world of the prospective student to support families with their school search and application process. She joined SAA admissions in 2018 and also serves as our school registrar. Families often meet Monika in the early stages of their school research. She offers individual tours, parent meetings, and facilitates shadow days and assessment experiences. Both prospective and current families work closely with Monika through their SAA journey.
As the parent of a gifted learner, Monika seeks to serve as a resource to families. “Our school community is a special one, in which the needs of gifted learners are truly understood and valued. I love helping families through the entire admissions process and am always only an email away.”
