We enjoyed hosting GIFTED: What’s it all about? at Science & Arts Academy last week. Presenter Kathy Nilles, Manager of Parent Services and Communications at National Association for Gifted Children (NAGC), gave attendees great insight into identifying and nurturing their gifted and high-ability children. The NAGC's mission is to support those who enhance the growth and development of gifted and talented children through education, advocacy, community building, and research. We highly recommend the free resources that NAGC publishes for parents. In her talk, Kathy referred to an article from NAGC’s Parenting for High Potential magazine called “Finding Your Child’s Best Educational Fit” that she highly recommends to parents. You can read it here. |
Kathy also touched on the many different ways to identify giftedness, one of which being IQ testing. If you are interested in learning more about IQ testing, join us on Thursday, November 15 at 9:00am for IQ TESTING: Understanding the Process. Dr. Vinita Bhojwani-Patel will present on why testing is helpful, and how scores can be used and interpreted. This event will also be free and open to the public. Learn more and register here.
We invite you to discover more about Science & Arts Academy at our Open House on Saturday, November 3. Attendees will have the opportunity to tour the school, visit classrooms and participate in a parent and student panel to learn more about our community of gifted learners.
