Mrs. Burks works to support our faculty and staff in the Business Office, though she wears many hats at SAA. Mrs. Burks serves as our Accounting Manager, but also manages our human resources, maintains supplies, and provides overall school support. Mrs. Burks works on a variety of projects throughout the year that advance the mission of SAA.
Mrs. Burks enjoys being a part of the SAA community where she can work with people whose calling and passion is an integral part of their daily lives, and appreciates that our faculty and staff love what they are doing and have made a conscious choice to be where they are. She loves supporting the school, and provides a strong backbone for a mission driven experience for our faculty and staff. "Every child remembers that one person who showed compassion when they were young. I would like to be remembered by parents and students as a someone who really cares."
Mrs. Burks’ relationship with SAA began in 1998, when her son joined the preschool program. When the SAA Business office had an opening in her area of expertise three years later, she applied, and became a part of the SAA staff under Head of School Dr. Christensen. She brought her background in banking and personnel, and the knowledge of being a parent of a gifted child. She has been a huge support for SAA since then.
Outside of the Business Office, Mrs. Burks serves as leadership in the Girl Scout program at SAA. She was the founding faculty advisor over seven years ago, when the first group of SAA students formed an official troop. The SAA Girl Scout program has grown from a group of less than fifteen to multiple levels and ranks offered, thanks to her continued support. She also participates in the greater community Girl Scout leadership, attending summits and meetings.
She received her accounting associate certificate from Oakton Community College, and has been at SAA for over 18 years. She also is a member of the Phi Theta Kappa Honor Society, and is an Illinois Notary Public.
