Meet Psychologist Dr. Vinita Bhojwani-Patel to learn more about the benefits of testing, the various subtests used to determine IQ, the use and interpretation of scores, and more.
Dr. Vinita Bhojwani-Patel has been in private practice for over twelve years and has experience as a School Psychologist, Intervention Specialist, and Educational Consultant. She has worked with several different schools and districts in Chicago and the northern suburbs. Dr. Patel has a Bachelor’s degree in Psychology, a Master’s degree in Education, and a Doctorate in School Psychology from Loyola University of Chicago.
The event will close with a Q&A Session and time for networking over refreshments.

Dr. Vinita Bhojwani-Patel , Ph. D.
Vinita is a Licensed School Psychologist whose specialty is working with school-aged students who are experiencing academic challenges and/or are in need of learning support. Vinita is passionate about teaching students effective learning strategies and has worked with with the Gifted and talented children for several years and understands the unique and wonderful profile of these students.
After earning a Bachelor’s degree in Psychology, and a Master’s degree in Education, Vinita attended Loyola University of Chicago earning a Doctorate in School Psychology. She has worked with several different schools and districts in Chicago and the northern suburbs as a School Psychologist and Educational Consultant. She has conducted numerous comprehensive and abbreviated educational evaluations to better understand students' learning strengths and areas of concern.
Vinita has been in private practice for over 12 years and takes great pride in working with clients and their families. Prior to starting her private practice, she worked as a School Psychologist and Intervention Specialist assisting teachers with adapting curriculum for students with special needs, as well as, administering various assessment protocols. She has worked for the Hawaii Department of Education as an Educational Consultant for more than twelve schools.
As a school psychologist, she has expertise in learning and cognition, information processing, psychopathology, child development, and educational foundations. Together, these skills and experiences have taught her to appreciate that students are much, much more that labels, numbers and percentiles. Each student is unique in how they acquire, process, and express information. She is passionate about her job as an educator providing them with effective resources that will allow them to excel academically

Dr. Ama Thompson leads the Student Support Team that provides assistance to teachers and parents in order to meet the needs of SAA students, especially those with twice exceptionalities. Dr. Thompson has spent over 20 years in education and earned a B.S. in Communication Sciences & Disorders, a M.A. in Learning Disabilities and a Ph.D. in Communication Sciences and Disorders from Northwestern University. She is also a certified Learning Behavior Specialist.
At Science & Arts Academy, Dr. Thompson works in partnership with families to ensure clear understanding of students’ learning profiles. She collaborates with teachers and families regarding student needs and shares strategies to help maximize student potential. Dr. Thompson loves working with educators to expand and refine their teaching practices and knowledge of exceptional learners. Her focus is on what students and teachers need to succeed and grow. Dr. Thompson is also a member of the Committee for Inclusion and Access at SAA.

Mindy Hildebrandt
Director of Enrollment Management

As Director of Enrollment Management at SAA, Mindy brings over 15 years of experience in the field of education, serving as a teacher, principal, and school administrator within both public and independent schools.
Mindy taught kindergarten for five years in the western suburbs of Chicago after earning her Bachelor of Arts in Education from Purdue University. Soon after earning a Master of Arts in School Leadership and Supervision from Concordia University, Mindy was appointed principal of a neighboring elementary school in her district. Leading her school for the next five years, Mindy oversaw the development of all curricular programs, monitored student growth, implemented interventions based upon individual needs, provided professional development for faculty/staff, and developed a positive, collaborative school culture. Her insight into the importance of differentiated instruction comes from extensive experience in monitoring student progress and collaboratively identifying interventions to support continued growth. This included leading RtI, IEP, and 504 educational teams to support the growth and progress of each individual student.
In 2014, Mindy brought her passion of working with children and families to Science & Arts Academy. As the Director of Enrollment Management, she works closely with families through all steps of the school search process. She regularly leads school tours, facilitates parent meetings, and provides a variety of opportunities for prospective students and families to learn more about the SAA community.
