Sydney Siegel teaches 7th and 8th grade Social Studies while also serving as a middle school Advisor. She came to SAA in 2012 bringing over 10 yers of experience in education.
Ms. Siegel is known for her passion for teaching students to be educated citizens who can participate actively in their communities. The SAA History Fair is one of her favorite events where she supports and encourages her students to dive deep into historical projects. She has had two students with 10th place finishes at National History Day Competition at the University of Maryland, and many more move forward to Illinois history competitions. She also coordinates the SAA Geo Bee, an annual and national geography bee.
She received a BA in both Classical Studies and History from Smith College, an MEd in Secondary Education Social Sciences, and an MA in History and Historiography from DePaul University. She is a member of the Golden Key National Honors Society.
When she is not teaching, you can find her playing sports, running, investigating issues of social justice, and spending time with her family.
