Auxiliary Programs
Science & Arts Academy is committed to providing a variety of supplemental programs before, during, and after the school day to further support and enhance the school experience.
Before and After School Care, the lunch program, and transportation services, are designed to make SAA more accessible, while extracurricular activities provide students with enrichment beyond the classroom. A summer program provides fun and unique learning opportunities outside of the regular school year.
Transportation Programs
Science & Arts Academy is accessible to gifted learners from the city of Chicago and the Evanston/North Shore area with our convenient Transportation Programs.
We are pleased to offer a daily, round trip chaperoned Metra service from Chicago before and after school between the Clybourn and Des Plaines Metra stations. A school shuttle bus transports students between the Des Plaines Metra station and SAA (0.5 mile distance).
Students in. the Evanston/North Shore area have the option to take a direct SAA Shuttle to and from campus each day.

Before & After School Care
Our Before & Aftercare Programs are offered every day that SAA is in session to provide more flexibility for those families who need it. Students can do their homework, play quiet games, and participate in other self-directed activities. Depending on the weather and space availability, students have the option to play games in the gym or on the playground.
The Before & Aftercare programs are offered for an additional fee. Fees are waived on the morning or afternoon that a student participates in an extracurricular activity, has a meeting with a faculty/staff member, or is accompanying a volunteering parent. Both Before and Aftercare are drop-in services, therefore there is no advanced reservation required.
Beforecare runs from 7:30-8:20am. Aftercare begins at 3:30pm and ends at 6:00pm. For questions about Before & Aftercare, please contact us.
Lunch Program
SAA offers a daily pre-order lunch program through YAY Company, bringing fresh, nutritious meals and an easy, flexible experience for families. Our students choose from convenient pre-ordered lunches or grab-and-go options from the Yay Café.

Summer Adventures
Summer Adventures is a unique enrichment and recreation day camp open to SAA students and the local community. We offer 3 two-week sessions each summer for children starting at 3 years old to rising 8th graders. We are proud to employ a team of talented educators and counselors who are fully committed to creating a fun and meaningful summer for every camper. Learn more about summer programs »
