Science & Arts Academy

Testimonials: What parents, students, and alumni are saying about Science & Arts Academy…

SAA finds a way to teach gifted learners in a way that is FINALLY interesting for them.

SAA has turned our little world around. I don't know how you do what you guys do. I don't know if I can fully characterize what our experience has been. I know that I used to see a kid going to and coming from school with her shoulders slumped and scowling to one who is now bounding, joyous, and feeling that her peers, her teachers, her assignments, her interests, her PLACE at school are valuable and interesting and supported. She feels loved at this school.

SAA has been a place where our son can completely be himself. He can be smart and funny and still be liked. He is with people who understand his jokes :-)

SAA offers my child an opportunity to experience the world of learning. I often wish a similar idea existed in my younger days... What we can’t have, we hope for our children.

The conversation reminded me of why we came to SAA - for the teachers. Our child has been fortunate to work with several excellent teachers at SAA…. We’ve worked through each situation over the years and we've definitely made good forward progress, but I know having a teacher who you really like and respect discuss those same issues and talk through them makes all the difference in the world; and as parents, knowing that our children, along with all their peers, have that support at school means the world to us!

SAA makes my son, the shy, independent thinker, so happy, challenged and motivated to try new projects.

SAA gives kids the opportunities to do things they never thought they could do.

The teachers care SO much about giving you the best opportunities to succeed in both this environment AND outside of school.

As I prepare to move on from Science & Arts Academy to high school, several important things have become clear to me. I realize that I am a different person walking out of SAA than I was walking in. When I first came here in fifth grade, I was shy and unenthusiastic about school. I had few interests, and learning didn’t seem fun to me. But over the past four years, I have broadened my horizons and realized that school is not only necessary but exciting and interesting. I have learned that challenging myself is both rewarding and enjoyable, and that hard work always pays off in the long run. I look forward to the next chapter of my life and know that I am prepared for whatever comes my way. I am incredibly proud and excited to say that I am a member of the Science and Arts Academy class of 2015.

[At SAA] I was allowed to learn at a higher level and study things that I was interested in. I had a greater sense of community at SAA than in previous schools, and I was prepared very well for the next stage of my education.

The past four years have been absolutely phenomenal. Sure, everything has its ups and downs and its positives and negatives, but overall Science & Arts Academy is, simply put, an extraordinarily unique and outstanding place with countless benefits.

I came here the same way a majority of kids come to SAA. No school was the right fit. When I first came to SAA, I knew it was something special. Because of the small amount of students and closeness with teachers, I always felt a sense of community here. This school has a special place in my heart, and I am sad to leave. However this (graduation) day is not sad. It is the last chapter of a good book. A book that leaves you smarter, happier, and with experiences that will last a lifetime.
