Haley Thurman

Picture
1st grade Homeroom;
Language Arts, Math; Social Studies

Ms. Thurman joined the SAA community in 2019 as a first grade homeroom, language arts, and science teacher. Additionally, she chaperones students using our Metra Service from Chicago, safely guiding our train riders to and from school each day.

Ms. Thurman is a Chicago transplant who fell in love with the city and made it her new home. She has taught in Chicago since 2017, serving children with a variety of needs, including gifted learners. She is specifically interested in differentiation and how to best meet the needs of each individual student within the classroom setting.

Haley graduated from the University of Missouri and completed her student teaching in a first grade classroom. She taught both second and third grade in Springfield, Missouri. She also completed technology training The Technology Leadership Academy in Joplin.

Outside of her classroom, you can find Ms. Thurman in her North Center neighborhood, walking her dog Cricket (a yorkie dachshund weiner mix), running, or spending time with family and friends.
