Matthew Vella joined SAA in 2020 supporting staff, faculty and students with technology usage, as well as integrating appropriate and innovative technologies to support, enhance, and extend learning.
He most recently served as the Technology Media Facilitator in the Zion School District, following five years in the Northbrook School District, where he served as District Wide Technology Specialist after having served as the Building Technology Specialist. Matthew also brings his classroom experience to SAA as a former middle school teacher for Des Plaines District 62. Primarily teaching social studies, he also taught family and consumer science and middle school math.
He earned his BA in History Education from Illinois State University and is currently on track to complete a Masters in Educational Technology Leadership in 2022.
Matt and his wife Rachel welcomed their first child, Olivia. They’re overjoyed she is in their lives, especially when she naps. Matt is also an avid reader and board game enthusiast.
