Mrs. Juliette Zielke joined SAA’s faculty in 2017 after teaching art in museum settings and in both public and private schools for over 20 years. At SAA she teaches lower and middle school art, as well as lower school science, and serves as a middle school advisor.
Helping children develop critical thinking skills while igniting their creativity is at the core of what Mrs. Zielke strives to do for her students. For the past 10 years she has worked to create a curriculum that includes an outdoor classroom and she remains passionate about connecting children and nature.
She finds the unique opportunity to teach both art and science provides the ability to create an endless variety of hands-on experiences for her students. “As an educator, I aim to teach students creatively; stimulating and engaging their natural curiosity while encouraging them to think critically.”
Mrs. Zielke studied at St. Mary’s College and earned her BFA in art and art history. She attended Northwestern University where she received her MS in education and social policy. She is a member of the National Art Education Association (NAEA) and the National Science Teachers Association (NSTA).
When not teaching, Mrs. Zielke is a practicing artist, avid gardener, aspiring cook, and voracious reader.
